1) CHAMPAGNE: Sample 2-DAY – 1-NIGHT Itinerary

“TASTES OF CHAMPAGNE”

Join Champagne aficionado David Lincoln Ross on a journey through one of the most beautiful and historic corners of France: Champagne, the Marne Valley and historic WWI and WWII battle sites. Explore exclusive, private access to this world-famous region and meet some of the most talented Champagne makers, taste their aged bubblies, dine at Michelin-starred restaurants, and stay at luxury châteaux and hotels during your tour.

This short trip will give opportunity to those who love Champagne to visit the region and learn the history of the world’s most famous sparkling wine.

A visit of the vineyards and the insight in the process of the production will be completed with a private tour of the Reims Cathedral, one of the greatest French Gothic Cathedrals, where 33 kings of France were crowned, including the Dauphin Charles VII led to Reims by Joan of Arc, in 1429.

  • Following your arrival in Paris, you depart in the morning from Paris Gare de l’Est, via TGV to Reims (less than 50 minutes); or via private car, which is approximately a 1½ h. drive)
  • Whether arriving by TGV or if you are already in Reims, you will be met by your Expert Guide at either the SNCF terminal or your hotel
  • Private VIP visit and tasting at one of the city’s top prestige Champagne houses. Following the tasting, you will check-in at a nearby luxury hotel, where you will drop off luggage before returning to Reims going to Lunch at Restaurant Le Foch, Reims
  • In the afternoon, via private chauffeur, your guide will join you for a reserved and private visit to a small Champagne producer, including for a tour of its aging cellars and an in-depth tasting with the winemaker/Chef de Cave
  • After this tour and tasting, return to Hotel for the balance of the afternoon. Reservations are set for your dinner are in Reims at a Michelin-starred restaurant, featuring several local specialties; the multi-course tasting menu will be accompanied by a suite of prestige cuvée Champagnes for each dish, including dessert

  • Check out from your Hotel after breakfast and proceed to a guided tour of Reims cathedral with an English-speaking local guide
  • Then, you will proceed to Epernay, by private car (20 miles South of Reims) and start visiting this small town
  • As you walk on Avenue de Champagne – with many 19th century mansions serving as headquarters for the world’s most famous Champagne Grandes Marques (brands) – you will also visit one of the multitudes of underground, Roman-era tunnels underneath, where for miles and miles the precious bottles mature and age
  • Lunch in Epernay: Les Berceaux (1* Michelin) Chef Patrick Michelon
  • Visit for a private tour of Moët et Chandon caves in Reims and/or Hautvillers-Dom Pérignon
  • After a full day, you will be driven to your Hotel, the TGV or directly to Roissy/CDG Airport depending on your travel plans

Explore exclusive, private to this world-famous region and meet some of the most talented Champagne makers, taste their aged bubblies, dine at Michelin-starred restaurants, and stay at luxury chateaux and hotels during your tour.

This trip will give opportunity to those who love Champagne to visit the region and learn the history of this world-famous sparkling wine.

A visit of the vineyards and the insight in the process of the production will be completed with a private tour of the Reims Cathedral, one of the greatest French Gothic Cathedrals, where 33 kings of France were crowned, including the Dauphin Charles VII led to Reims by Joan of Arc, in 1429.

  • Morning departure from Paris Gare de l’Est, via TGV to Reims (less than a 50-minute ride), or you will be driven by your chauffeur in a private, luxury sedan. (1 h ½ drive)
  • On arrival at your 5-star Hotel in Reims, you will check in and be met by your local, expert guide
  • Next, you are invited for a Private VIP visit and tasting of Grands Cru Champagnes at a top Champagne House in Reims
  • After this tasting, you are reserved for lunch at Restaurant Le Foch, Reims, a one-star Michelin address
  • Following lunch, you are invited for a private, guided tour and tasting at the home and wine-making facility of a small Champagne producer
  • Return to Hotel for the balance of the afternoon
  • Dinner in Reims: L’assiette Champenoise, a three-star Michelin restaurant with Chef Arnauld Lallemant

  • After your breakfast, you will have a private guided tour of Reims cathedral with English speaking guide, where all of France’s Kings have been crowned for more than 1000 years.
  • After your tour, you will proceed to Epernay, by private car (20 miles South of Reims) and visit this small town with your private guide. As you walk on Avenue de Champagne one of the richest streets in the world, with many 19th century mansions, you can imagine the multitude of underground tunnels underneath, where for miles and miles the precious beverage is maturing on racks
  • Then, you will a have private tour and tasting of a top Champagne House in Epernay
  • Next, Lunch is at Les Berceaux, a one-star Michelin restaurant, with Chef Patrick Michelon
  • After lunch, you will have the choice to either tour and taste at another of the main Epernay Champagne Houses, or, take a private, guided tour of one of WWI battlefields near Epernay
  • At the end of your tour, you will be driven back to your Hotel in Reims
  • Dinner is open, and reservations in advance may be made with the help of your local guide and/or the Hotel Concierge

  • After breakfast at Hotel, via your private chauffer, you will visit Hautvillers, the village of the Father of Champagne, Dom Perignon
  • That morning, you will have a private Champagne tasting in the “Au 36” Champagne bar in the center of Hautvillers
  • Lunch is pre-booked at three-star Michelin restaurant, Les Crayères, at the famous Hotel/Restaurant, Les Crayères
  • After lunch, return to Hotel and you are free to walk around Reims old city center
  • For dinner, you are booked for a lovely, luxury cruise along the Marne River

  • Following breakfast at your Hotel, you will go and visit a prominent local producer and participate in a special experience presented by this small, artisanal Champagne house
  • There you will participate in a culinary workshop related to the combination of Champagne and local cheeses, followed by an in-depth exploration of the estate’s vineyards and aging cellars with the owner and winemaker
  • Afterwards, a visit followed by lunch will take place at Champagne Le Gallais, in Boursault, where you will have a superb view over the vineyards
  • Continuation to Troyes in the afternoon (1 ½ hour drive). Guided city tour on arrival to visit this charming medieval little town or visit a WWI or WWII historic battlefield and related museum(s)
  • Check-in at Troyes luxury hotel for 1 night and dinner at a local restaurant
  • Possibility to return to Paris, go to Roissy/Charles de Gaulle airport or continue to Burgundy or another destination you request.
